Under the guidance of Mr Yakup, Head of Enterprise, Fortismere entered some teams into the prestigious VEX IQ Challenge. This international competition sees teams of students tasked with designing and building a robot to play against other teams around the world in a game-based engineering challenge. Classroom STEM concepts are put to the test on the playing field as students learn lifelong skills in teamwork, leadership, communications and more. Tournaments are held throughout the year at regional and national levels. Local champions go on to compete against the best in the world at the VEX Worlds.
On 22nd February, Fortismere hosted a regional competition against other local schools. One of our teams is through to the National Championships in Birmingham at the NEC. Congratulations to all the students who took part Max Szczech, Julius O’Brien, Noah Schmidt, Francisco Garcia, Leo Franks, Lulu Betteridge, Maya Sutton-Patel, Heidi Ellingham, Amelia Tickner, and Oryna Goichuk for their incredible hard work and dedication.
Our students’ robots were amazing and building them involved much team work, design, programming and strategy!
